Default LSD problem (with dealer)

Long story short (or as short as I can make it):
I bought a new 2008 Hemi 1500 last March. The window sticker listed Big Horn package, 3.92 gears, etc., but did not list lsd as an added option. I asked the salesman, he checked with someone in parts, and he asked one of the mechanics. All 3 people agreed that the truck had lsd. I asked about a dozen times to be sure and they all agreed it was equipped with lsd. Winter was pretty much over at that time last year, but this year I had it all winter. I noticed the lsd was not working properly (or like I thought it should) but I didn't think too much about it. I start reading all the info on this site and I finally get a build sheet for my truck. Guess what.......NO LSD. Now I am really screwed. I want lsd and the dealer assured me it had it. It has been a year and I'm sure the dealer will say "sorry, tough luck, you should have inspected it more closely when you bought it". Do I have any options here or just face the fact that I screwed up and start looking for a good aftermarket lsd???

Sorry for the long post but this really bugs me. I think I am more mad at myself than anything.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

It would have been on the window sticker if it had it. If not, it ain't there. If you got any one of the three to put it in writing, your golden. If not, your looking for an aftermarket. Suggest either an Auburn Gear or Detroit TruTrac, but at least you'll have a unit that is 100x more reliable than the stock one...

yeah the window sticker would show if your truck had it....but from the sounds of it you might as well start looking aftermarket.....like hammer said, auburn and detroit are you 2 best options

Yea the dealers are kinda shady that way. My dad was looking at a 09 hemi rc and they told him it had LSD, but when I looked at the sticker it wasn't on there. Either they do it intentionally or they don't know the difference between LSD and traction control. Your best bet is aftermarket, could be a good reason to gear up if you have the urge.

going rate for an auburn is about $400, a detroit about $500. LSD's are pretty easy compared to gears, I'm guessing someone's gonna hit you for about 2 hours labor, even though it's realistically an under an hour job...

At least you didn't pay for a piece of cr*p like most of us did.
The stock LSD is GARBAGE!!!!
It's not a question of "if it will go"...........rather when??
So, all in all, look on the positive side as you can now pick an LSD of your choice, knowing it will not damage the rest of your axle.
I have a DTT and speak very highly of it.
Hope this helps?
Al.

I think I am leaning towards the detroit tru trac. I know it is a little more money but it looks pretty much maintenance free and it seems to be a very good unit. I talked to a local shop and he said it would be about 2 hours labor.
This whole situation still sucks, but as was mentioned earlier, now I can get a lsd that is worry free and solid as a rock. I just wish my stupidity didn't have to cost me about $700, talk about an expensive lesson!!
