Leveling WITHOUT lifting the front?
05 Ram 1500 QC 4x4
I want to level the truck but I want to keep the ride as it is now WITHOUT cranking the torsion bars.
I will be using 285/70 17 rubber so I don't need the height either.
What about reducing the rear height?
Removing a leaf?
The heaviest load I put in the back is my sled...about 700 lbs.
I tow a 18ft ski boat and a sled trailer.
I would like to have a decent ride. I like how the truck rides now, particularily the front end.

Drop The Tail!
I'm a big fan of dropping the rear. I own an 06 QC Hemi and installed a 1.25" Belltech drop shackle with impressive results.
Not only do I love the stance, (especially with the 20" wheels) but the ride improved substantially. Settled the rear tires right down, and less body roll.
Then I installed Bilsteins all around, a Hellwig rear sway bar, and Energy Suspension Poly sway bar bushings up front.
Huge difference! Huge! Truck dives into corners vs. stock.
Best bang for the buck is likely the Hellwig, but after all is said and done, I couldn't live without any of the mods! Big time recommended.

Sacrilege, you speak! Lowering a 4x4 is pure sacrilege! But yeah, drop shackles in the rear is the way to go...

rear leveling
Anyone got any pics of a 1500 QC 4x4 with the rear drop shackles on it?
This looks like a good go.
1in or 2in is what Belltech offers.
Will 1in be enough?
I don't want to go too far.
This seems like a good approach though, preserve the ride, actually prolly better ride when level?
I'm thinking of how the Chev SS 4x4 truck sits and looks.

leveling
Easy Fella's.....
I've been down the lifted road too.
Solid axle 6in lifts with 33's and 35's, built Jeeps etc.
Looking for a different approach this time.
Daily driver, kids in/out all the time.
Want the truck to be level and ride well running 285/70/17 rubber.
Still looking for anyone's real world experience with this approach.
Pics would be Kewl too.
Thanks
PS My ****'s big enough to handle this approach! LOL

I'd never lower a 4x4, they are made tall for a reason, using 4x4.
I'd get leveling keys, and new shocks up front. That should help to return the ride to as smooth as it is now, at least from what I've heard. Or sell the truck, and get a 2wd in the same style, so someone who wants that height of the 4x4 can use it rather than the 2wd. j/k

I was just busting cookies. Personally I'd never do it, but I have always believed you can and should do whatever you want to your own truck. There are a couple who've done the shackles in the rear to a 4x4, RaiderJay comes to mind. As so few have done it, it may take a little while to get your pics, but somebody will get you some, I'm sure...
