Ask him how much it weighs and what is the size for shipping calculations and then what carrier or freight he is using. I think 400 is cheap for a SRT hood and 600 +/- is about right overall. Plus you dont have to paint it assuming it is in great condition and gets to you that way.

its 100lbs and he is using freight n shipping. i did a real quick quote on ups. for their freight it said it had to be over 150lbs but it let me do the quote. it came to about 200. then ups ground was 90 bucks...

You could always explain you are trying to find the cheapest but safest shipping method and ask him to forward you his shipping quote.

renting a Uhaul for that distance is going to cost you more than $275. That's about what the freight charges are, you might get UPS to ship it, but you're not getting screwed.

That shipping price sounds right for shipping a hood that distance. With the shipping price factored in you are getting a fair deal as long as the hood is in good shape.

i just talked to the company. the guy was really nice and said the best he could do is 220. which is more reasonable for me.

As long as you are sure the hood is in good shape I would say do the deal.
