Here is a totally dumb, stupid, pathetic question that I have to ask because I think I am confused. 
I have a 2008...on my exhaust there are the pipes coming off the engine, they run along the truck and go into a huge can (probably 36" long by 12" wide) just in front of the rear passenger tire, then the tube comes out again, up over my axle, into a small can (probably 11" long, 5" wide), then the pipe exits behind the passenger wheel. I thought that big huge can was the resinator and the smaller one was the muffler. Am I looking at this all wrong or what????

and by the tailpipe...you could also have another resonator before the muffler.

You are correct. I have been doing some more research and it seems the 2008 only has the one resonator behind the passenger side tire, it does not have the 2nd one further up on the other side of the muffler. It is amazing what you can learn just by reading, and in my case I am learning alot!!!
