Thumbs up Airaid MIT review 4.7L

I purchased for around 100.00 w/ free shipping. It took about 40 minutes to install; that includes the time to remove all the old intake tubing etc. As far as a performance mod lol I cant imagine it giving more then 3-4 hp if that. I did notice that I get a little more pull in 4th gear. It makes my exhuast alot louder. The tubing itself doesnt fit flush inside the throttle body opening. I tried all angels and extending the rubber mounting piece that attach to the air filter housing to give me some more leverage but it just wont fu*king fit flush. Also, I change my air filters every 6k with my oil and its going to be no joke to do the replacement, just a heads up.

For the price I would say get it, unless you can make your own for cheaper lol. Any questions just let me know or PM. Have a nice night.

I like mine....fits nice and tight and doesn't clutter the bay. I have about 10k on it and still notice the better throttle response and mid/high rpm smoothness over stock...with a drop-in.

Are you still running the stock exhaust or do you have something else?
Did you do any other mods or just the airaid?

I got my Volant CAI used for $100 bucks and the guy threw in the TB spacer he had. I need to get a new filter because the one he gave me with it was pretty tore up, but I noticed a pretty good gain all the way across the powerband. Went to their website and found the dimensions of the filter and I'm going to try and replce it with another cone filter. See them a lot on E-bay used. Seems like it might be a better buy than $100 for just a tube.

True, but most people get the tube b/c they don't want a lot of extra noise. Trueflow makes a kit w/ replacement tube and filter for just a little more than the MIT.

Maybe you got the wrong part number and got one for a Hemi, which is why it doesn't fit right.

I cut out that huge muffler that came with the truck and put in a glasspack. It's almost the same size as the exhaust piping used but a little bigger. I was going for a straight through, thats why I did it.

When I did it, the exhaust purred at idle; now its significantly louder at idle. I just wanted to replace the muffler because a.) its heavy b.) I figured straight through would free up pressure. I want a Borla and its like 500+. So this is a cheap fix untill then.

And that Airaid is the only mod along with the muffler swap as far as engine and exhaust go.

The extra noise from the intake in mine isn't that bad. I ran it with the cover off to see if it made any difference power wise and the intake was a lot LOUDER. When I bought it the guy gave me a TB spacer too. I get a really lou whistle from that at higher RPM's. I think thats about all that it does. Want to take it off, but lost the stock length bolts.

Here is a totally dumb, stupid, pathetic question that I have to ask because I think I am confused.
I have a 2008...on my exhaust there are the pipes coming off the engine, they run along the truck and go into a huge can (probably 36" long by 12" wide) just in front of the rear passenger tire, then the tube comes out again, up over my axle, into a small can (probably 11" long, 5" wide), then the pipe exits behind the passenger wheel. I thought that big huge can was the resinator and the smaller one was the muffler. Am I looking at this all wrong or what????
I admit it, I am a dumb ***

I think your right. I'm pretty sure the bigger can is the resonator and the smaller is the muffler.
