Quick queston, 2008 Hemi Ram is 7 quarts of 5w20 right?

Default Quick queston, 2008 Hemi Ram is 7 quarts of 5w20 right?

Im at work, leaving from work today to go buy my oil, I cant remember for the life of me if its 6 or 7 quarts, and if its 5w20.

Unless they changed it after 06, its 7 qts of 5w-20

Might be a stupid question but is the owners manual in the truck? If it is look in it, but I think that 7qts of 5-20 is right. Also the grade of oil should be on the oil cap.

That's because your engine does not have MDS, which requires 5W-20 to operate correctly.

As others have said, 7 quarts of 5W-20 is correct.

with that being said if you disable the MDS do you need to switch?

I used to think the same thing, that the only reason was the MDS, then it was pointed out to me that the '05, which is identical to the '04 in every way, specs 5w-20. WTF

That's normally because the bearing clearance is tighter on the newer models, but I'd say it's more for better mileage for the EPA and sales. The 5w-20 is what's spec'd out for the bearing clearance thickness. There is a whole science behind it, well, for the most part...lol
I run 5w-30 in my 08 Ram with the MDS turned off. Otherwise stick with the factory specs for oil.

I got the 05', no MDS and recommends 5w-20
