The only parts that I stock up are the ones that I take off and don't get around to selling. I have some u-bolts for the leaf springs, a stock intake, stock throttle body, some exhaust tips, stuff like that laying around. If I even need anything that the dealer or parts store doesn't have I will just take a ride to the pick and pull, they have a lot of rams in there.

i havent sold any of my stock stuff either. i figured that if i ever go to trade in my truck, i wont get anything extra for aftermarket parts. i will just then try to sell my aftermarket parts and put my stock ones back on. im guessing that i will get more money for my mods than for my stock stuff

That is pretty much the same way that I look at it too. Since the aftermarket parts don't really bring much when sold on the truck I figured I would go back to stock when it gets time for me to sell and then sell the aftermarket stuff seperately.

Default What a great bunch of people!

To begin with, thanks for the hearty welcome! I really appreciate the input each and everyone delivered. I will try to complete my profile in the coming days to give a better insight as to my location. I've been visiting the site for a couple of months but only decided to join lately as I had that question nagging me. To be honest, I posted a thread similar to this elsewhere and nearly got blasted (had only one reply, and a rude one at that). The spelling: Hummm, some of you noticed. I'm in Eastern Canada, near the capital, and I learned English in school where we used British dictionnaries...

Bertens: You know how I feel. The parts situation might be ok south of the border, but I have my doubts in our neck of the woods. I even contacted a scrap yard/body shop in the Cornwall area that specializes in Dodge truck wrecks (the idea being to buy a whole wreck). The owner has plenty of parts/vehicles (he has a deal with the insurance companies), but isn't it better to buy parts now that are 1-2 years old instead of waiting 10-12 years when they are worn out? Just an idea. One of my kids also bought a RAM just like mine.

Storage was mentioned: I have a brand new 24' X 30' garage with an attic for storage. Other features: 220 volt plug-in, heated floor, 4 double-8 ft neon lights, laundry tub w/hot & cold water, massive I beam at the ceiling for trolley. Also, 1 acre of parking space for "projects" (four jeeps right now and counting -- now if only my girlfriend would let me buy 2-3 old Dodge trucks...).

On another subject: If anyone is interested, Chrysler was no. 1 in sales in Canada for the month of February. Yep, ahead of GM and everyone else.

on the subject of buying parts, it would be a lot cheaper 10 years down the line but then they would be in worse condition especially if they were sitting outside the whole time. they probably would have rusted right through. if you have the facilities to store the parts right now, i might go ahead and buy some rare important parts that you might not find later if you plan on keeping your truck for a long time.

oh yeah and dodge forum is the best
