Default Installing Tow Hooks

Hey Guys I just got a set of new tow hooks from my friend. He took them off his 02 F250 and he sold it with his f150 to buy a brand new 08 F250 PSD. He was going to throw them out, but I happened to talk to him before he did and he gave them to me. I don't have bolts for them though, just the gigantic F250 tow hooks. I know that I have to drill through the plastic above my bumper and attach them to my frame, but where and what bolts do I need to buy? Who else has done this installation? I did a search, but didn't find anything.

If it was me, I'd weld them on and be done with it...

If you're going to use bolts, you're going to need some good strong Grade 8 bolts. They should be available at auto parts stores.

Yeah, make sure you get grade 8 bolts, not grade 5 or crappy low carbon bolts. You can get them at Lowes or Home Depot, or an auto parts store, or a specialty fastener place like Fastenal. Grade 8 are generally yellow zinc plated and should have 6 hash marks on the head.

You could just weld them on, but only if you're sure you won't ever want to remove them, and you know you don't suck at welding.

I second getting the Grade 8 @ Lowes or Home Depot. Thats where I got mine when I installed my tow bar. I also use them on all of my engine stands and never had any one break or snap.

I think I will weld them... I have a friend that can do that without a problem. Just have to measure out and cut the plastic first. lol
