Default Mobil 1 oil dirty after 2500 miles

Hey all I did a Mobil 1 change from Castrol Synthetic blend and after about 2500 miles it is dirtier on the dip stick than after I do a oil change in the pans this normal for Mobil 1 to be like this? I mean even extended intervals (4000 +) with the Castrol didn't seem to be this dirty. I' do have a ebay CAI with a K & N filter, but I clean it at everyother oil change.

Also I need to change out my EGR flow valve (code P0404) because it popped up last week on the engine check light. This dirty oil thing wouldn't have anything to do with the EGR messing up would it. The truck has 65,500 on it now and the O'rielly guy said I shouldn't have this problem with only that many miles on it. Then again I went up to NC from GA and used a no name gas station for a fill-up.

Thanks H-

The Mobil 1 fans will say it's 'cause the oil is cleaning better than Castrol. However, the oil is supposed to get dirty-looking. Not sure it's a concern.

Oon the oil, don't judge by color. The oil is supposed to collect dirt, grime, etc. as it lubricates. The best thing to go by is mileage and your driving conditions. As long as you have a quality oil and filter and keep up on the oil changes according to your usage, the clor isnt a big deal. Take a diesel for example (although it is a completely different senario I know) you can change the oil and drive it a week and the oil will be jet black, but still good.

If you're concerned, send a sample to Blackstone Labs for a UOA. I send a sample in from every oil change just to ease my mind and make sure the oil is holding up.

Thanks all I'll send in a sample on the next oil change.

As for the EGR valve the light went out today and I hope it cleaned it's self out with me using Gumout in the last two fill-ups. I think it was just bad gas.(Knock wood)
