Dealer Tranny service BAD DEAL!!
Hey so on the 21st of Jan I had my tranny serviced @ Savannah Dodge with one of the $89 coupons I got from the net. First they didn't want to honor it then I still got charged $125 for it because I have a dual tranny filter they said. I'm like Dam $35 for the 2nd filter, they said it was for the added fluid too. So I take off and head home and do some towing and put on about 1200 miles on her. On the 21st of Feb one month to the day I'm doing a full on check over on my Brandie because we are going up to NC for a week and ta-da I check the tranny level and it is 2 and 3/4 quarts low. I get my mechanic to verify and the Advanced auto manager before I call Savannah Dodge. They say are you sure, did you check it right most people do it wrong?? Red flag one. Just fill it up and head up here and we'll reemburse you for it. Savannah Dodge is about 30 miles out of the way from us so heading up that day was not an option. I tell them I'll be back after our trip and I'll be checking it out alot on the way up and back. Well we headed out on the trip and I was able to go up to Savannah today and I stop in and they take my truck to the back and come back and say "I thought you said it was low??" Red flag two. I said "That is why you have the receipt from Advanced Auto in your hand I DID replace the fluid. I'm not that dumb to drive it another 600 + miles with no fluid". (I'm getting PO'ed now) Oh she says and goes out back for 10 minutes or so and comes back and says "We've been having problems with the tranny refill hose reel and there was no way to check if the machine didn't put in the right amount of fluid into the tranny after it was punched into the fluid adder computer (her words) Red flagg three. I'm like what they don't do a recheck on the tranny dip stick after they fill it?? Her reply was well you needed to drive it for a while first. WTF?? I figure they are the dealer right and I did buy the truck from them and they are on the big Dodge dealer sights for the South East. I got a check for $16.25 from them back. Nothing about the $125 I spent there. Well needless to say I'll be doing ALL my maitainance from now on or my mechanic gets ALL my business.
Very bad business! I can't believe it left the shop not checked. All they have to do is drive it around the block. Then do a quick check to make sure the trans fluid is at the cold line.
With times we are in today. You'd think the dealer would be going the extra mile to keep there customers happy but apparently not.

not trying to stick up for the stealership BUT,
A similar thing happened to me only I did it myself. I dropped the pan and replaced both filters and added back the correct amount of fluid. I then drove it around town for 30 minutes came back and checked it and it was still good. About a week later, I noticed my tranny was taking a few more seconds to engage into drive. I check the level and sure enough, a little over 2 quarts low. Filled it up again and no more problems. Checked it every 3 days for 2 weeks after that and whenever I pop the hood now and everythings fine.
I actually think there was a TSB out about this somewhere (something about a certain filter number, the spin on one) but the only thing they do is put a different filter # in.

Come on now they are a Dealer trying to keep customers right?? And if this is such an ongoing problem that they had to write a TSB or the replacement filter is a bad one they should know this already, right?? I think that the "Oh the hose reel was jacked and the computer auto filler "said" it was right" is total BS. Common sense would be to check the dip stick a few times just like an oil change. And the screw-on filter probably needed to be filled before they installed it just like a lot of oil filters need it if they are a vertical filter mount. I even fill up my new filter about a 1/3rd before I put it on because the 4.7 mounts at an angle. I just know I'm NOT going back there ever!!
