Default Lamp Out/Dinging Problem

I posted last week about my Lamp Out problem. Well, I thought I had the problem solved when I replaced the dome light -- WRONG. I thought it was kind of strange that a little dome light bulb would make my dashboard go off like World War III. Well, i was right.

This weekend the problem started again. On my way to work this morning, I drove without my front lights on. I turned on my front lights and bingo, the lamp out came on. Turned the front lights off, lamp out goes off. I did this over and over.

Someone on this forum said that this is a big problem with 3rd generations. Is there a permanent fix to this problem?

Default lamp out light

Bayou Bill,
I have an 05 ram my lamp out light was doing the same thing, however it only happens when i have my left turn signal on when im braking at the same time. I already replaced the bulbs so i fugure its got to be a short in the wiring somewhere, my next step will be to replace the panel that holds the reverse brake and turn light. ket me know if this helps.

My "Lamp Out" indicator was playing the on/off game for five months before a taillight finally went out. Started doing it again and I found the connector to the taillight strip wasn't seated properly. Check for any loose connections or a short. Also check the license plate illuminators, if one of those is out it will trigger the lamp out warning.

I chased that problem for about a month on my truck, and finally got sick of it. I went down and bought new headlights, which was a plus, and a can of electra clean and grease. Spent most the afternoon cleaning and greasing all my exterior bulbs. has been working fine for months now, knock on wood. man why did i tell that story? Now its going ding tonight, man im an idiot!
