Default Exhaust Question

Thinking about going dual and getting a y-pipe from the muffler back, I'm also going to get two more of those exhaust tips I have on my truck right now (there are a couple pics of it in my album), I am just wondering, will the y-pipe affect my tone with the 40 series i have on there now becuase I really like the sound I have right now, and also what is the inlet size for the y-pipe 3"?

Thanks

Im not sure what you mean by a y pipe after the muffler. Are you trying to get SI DO? If you get a DO muffler then thats all you need. I have a catback FM Delta 40 3" SI and two 2.5" DO to two 4*22" tips going straight out the rear. Is that something like what you are wanting?

I was thinking of getting the y-pipe SI DO so I don't have to change my current muffler

I got you. I was thinking a different style Y pipe. I dont think it would sound any different personally because of the way the internals of the current muffler is built. But IMO it would look better with two tips. Have you price shopped MagnaFlow and FlowMaster mufflers on Ebay and Craigslist?

If I understand you correctly, you currently have a SI/SO Flowmaster 40, but you want to add a Y-pipe at the rear of the muffler and run two tailpipes, right?

If so, I don't think it will change the exhaust tone, but it may change the volume level on the driver's side of the truck some.

As long as I don't lose that deep, aggressive tone I will be more than willing to swap the exhaust from the muffler back and put in a y-pipe, and yes I have a SI SO flowmaster 40 series right now...no I haven't checked out the prices for y-pipes from flowmaster or magnaflow only because I am not 100% positive on the sizes in and out for the y-pipe

you should be fine but as long as you have the single out for two pipes connected to the other side of the muffler which i have currently have now... and you wont possibly lose some of the deep and aggressive sound...

you should just go ahead and do a true dual to get the performance and it would still sound badA as well
