P0700: 3X in almost two years
I bought my '05 Ram 1500 in June of 2007 with 19K on the odo (it just turned over 51K last week). In that time I've gotten the P0700 trans code three times. It does the same thing each time. It's only at start-up on a cold engine/transmission; it appears that the vehicle starts out in either second or third gear; and if you turn the engine off and restart it, the transmission shifts and operates normally. If you pull the PCM fuse and clear the CEL, it will stay clear for months until it happens again.
From this I gather that it isn't a true transmission problem but some sort of periodic electrical glitch. I assume I should still be covered under the 7/70 warranty (which I paid $100.00 to transfer over to me), but I hate to take the truck into the dealer for what may be one of those "it just happens but there's no fix" discrepancies.
What say you? Drop it off or deal with again in August or September?

if you've got the warranty and have not cleared the CEL, I'd take it in. Could be a sensor or even the screen is dirty and just throwing a code now and then, but hell, you got the warranty, use it, the cool thing with the warranty is, you go in and bi*ch about the tranny and have a CEL, they gotta drop the pan, you get a tranny fluid change for nuthin'...
