So are there any reports of them not being safe? I would think the ones that bolt on and still retain the original stud length would be okay. Anyone?

As long as you torque them down in sequence and use medium loctite, they will be fine. The reports of them not being safe is from uneven torque and never checking them for re-torque.
I'd pull a randow wheel off100miles after install and check the torque on them. If all are good, put the wheel back on and call it good. If 2 or more needed additional torque, then pull all wheels off and retorque them.
Spacers that dont have their own studs(i.e. thinner than 1")can be unsafe because you have more pressure on the outer end of the stud rather than closeer to the hub.

They dont make hubcentric spacers in the 1"+ sizes for the Rams. Only the 1/8"-3/8" size spacers. I've looked everywhere!

I would think small spacers are ok but IDK if I would personally trust really thick ones
