Default Whining sound - 08 4x4

Hi all, newbie here. I have a strange problem. I own a 2008 Ram Quad Cab 4x4 Laramie with under 5k miles. This replaced an '06 version of the same truck. When I drive down the street, I hear an odd whining sound coming from the front end, almost like the transmission area. I hear it until I either a) let off the gas, or b) go over 40mph. The other oddity is that it seems to almost disappear once the truck has been driven for awhile.

What I am trying to determine is if this is normal operation (my '06 Laramie didn't make this sound), or if there is a lubrication or mechanical issue here. Thanks for any insight.

Whining noises usually are related to the alternator, though the truck has low miles you might want to looks at the tensioner pulley or bearings. might also help to check the fluids in your trans and diffs.

Perhaps the front axle isn't releasing like it should. Wouldn't hurt to have the dealer take it for a spin to have a listen.
