Default 2002 Dodge Speedometer Sticking

I have read through the threads but here is my situation. After driving for a while my Speedometer sticks. Just normal around town driving it is fine. When I drive the truck for a long time it sticks. From what I can tell I have two options. 1. Replace the entire cluster, 2. I have heard that you can replace the stepper motor in the cluster. I called the dealer and they have no idea what a stepper motor is and say that I have to bring it in, big suprise. I am wondering if anyone has had this problem and what they have done to fix the problem. Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure about your situation specifically, but the dealer probably doesn't know what you are talking about because I'm sure they don't replace bits and pieces - they replace entire modules, or in this case, the entire cluster. It's easier for them, plus makes them more money. If you can in fact replace just that part, your best bet is to find a local shop willing to do it.
