I have the 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD with the real axle whine too. I was told that the bearings need to be replaced. It has been that way for years. Does that sound right?

OK, so I had mine fixed on my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. It was not cheep. Make sure when your buddy gets his done that he gets the old parts. Just to make sure they are doing what they say. Are they just putting the old parts back in or not replacing all the parts? I could see how you would get a problem again if they are not replacing parts.
When I had mine redone I did find that there was a defect in one of the parts. Not from wear but a defect. This defect caused more heat than it should. I hope he does not have defective parts from the same batch but sounds like the same problem.
