Really close to ordering an 05' but need a lil' help
Cuase I don't like slushboxes
.......and sticks are way more fun.
I actually tested a 1500 reg cab short bed hemi with 17's and 3.92's.
Nice truck, but couldn't stand the tranny. Needed to have the touque management thing disabled.

Yes, but only on the 2500/3500 from what I understand. The only way to get a V8 whith a stick in a 1500 is with the 4.7, and since I need a short truck, thats what I'm looking into.
SURE.[sm=noooo.gif][sm=nothatway.gif][sm=icon_rtfm.gif][sm=forgetit.gif][sm=bustedsign.gif]
I didn't realize they made a reg cab shortbed 2500.[sm=joke.gif]
Sorry guy, but if you read my original post, then you know I need a short truck.
Not flamin', just havin' fun explainin'.[sm=smiley2.gif]

"Or is it overkill??"
That's "Oval Kill".......mine is a 2500/short/bed w/six speed! 4.56:1/rear/end. about 1500rpm's in 6th gear @ 80mph.

"Ovalkill"......Good one. (how did you know that's what I have now?)[sm=bustedsign.gif]
"2500/short/bed/w/6speed! 4.56:1/rear/end" You mean 1500 since you are an SRT/10 right?
But you have a tremec 6-speed that DOES have 2 OD gears.
SRT/10 tremec ratios:1st-2.66:1, 2nd-1.78:1, 3rd-1.30:1, 4th-1.00:1, 5th-0.74:1, 6th-0.50:1
Getrag 238 6-speed: 1st-4.23:1, 2nd-2.53:1, 3rd-1.67:1, 4th-1.23:1, 5th-1.00:1, 6th-0.79:1
Much lower ratio's in the getrag, that's why I'm researching what axle ratio would match up best with it for "street purposes"[sm=burnout.gif], not towing.
BTW- nice truck! They have a red one over hear, but 2 big problems for me.......
1- I can't drive it in winter up here in New England.[sm=badidea.gif][sm=sigh.gif]
2- Don't think I can afford it![sm=boohoo.gif]
*EDIT*
I got some more info/insight on all of this.
I test-drove a jeep wrangler sport today.
30" tires/4.0 straight six/3.73 axle/6-speed.
But,......it's the getrag 370, not the 238 model the ram will have.
jeep's 1st gear is 4.46:1 versus 4.23:1 on the ram.
1st gear was useable, but wound up really quik, but a 4.7 winds a lot higher than the straight six can.
So with the ram's taller tires and slightly shorter 1st (compared to the jeep) and heavier weight, I think that while either ratio (3.55/3.92) would be usable, I think I'd like the 3.92's better.
Any opinion's on this new info????[sm=smiley25.gif][sm=feedback.gif]

the 3.92's would probably be better. Can't you test drive the truck you want before you buy it? I can't believe they wouldn't have a 6 speed 4.7L ram on the lot......
Nope, they the only 6-speed they have (besides desiels) is an SRT/10. And that a whole different animal.
The sales manager says that the still have NOT started putting the new 6-speed in the ram 1500 yet.[sm=WTFsgign.gif]
Does anyone know for a fact if this is true or not?????????????????????????[sm=helpout.gif][sm=helpout.gif][sm=helpout.gif]
I have gone to dodge's site and it will let me build one...........yet I'm told they aren't out yet![sm=wtf.gif]
