I think you mixed your words? Because you said your 3" is deep, and 3" is perty big right?

I will be calling around to some muffler shops soon, but I see the price of gas is starting to go back up so I might have to just leave it for now, or put in a cheap muffler.
BTW, does anyone know how loud it would be with NO muffler, just a piece of pipe, and the rest of the exhaust stock?
thanks

It would be loud straight piped. You know, 3" isnt really that big. When you get into the 4.5" range, thats what I would consider big, for a gas motor. You do want to keep the exhaust a bit smaller, because you need the back pressure to maintain performance. All your looking to do it free up flow of the exhaust. Thats why I think 3" is perfect for our trucks.

When I wrote earlier about the tones with different size exhaust, thats what I meant to write. Thats what Ive been told, and thats what I have seem to find out. Which is why I went with 3", versus 4" or even 3.5"

I would go to a shop and get it done. The pipe in those ebay listings aren't mandrel bent.

I had a Flowmaster 40 series installed last weekend. It's 3" in and dual 2.5" out.
I couldn't be happier. The total cost was $280 and it was done in just over an hour.

I would say get an e-cutout. Then you can have all the bark you ever wanted at the flip of a switch and have a nice quite exhaust if you should ever want it. I have had a lot of different mufflers and nothing sounds as good as a cutout IMO.

what i really want is 2.5'' out, maybe 2.75'' if i can get it, I dont really want to go any larger than that because i am afraid it will sound too hollow.... has anyone ever just put a glasspack in place of the muffler? hows it sound?

The factory hemi pipes are close to 3"...2.5" is too small if it's not true duals or X/H pipe IMO. I'm with teacher...an e-cutout with whatever exhaust you have on now is the best bet. With the cutout open you get close to a straight header sound.
