Question.
A friend of mine has a PT Cruiser with a Turbo and a stag 1 turbo system, I have a Dodge Ram 1500 quad 4 4x4 with a Hemi. He has Duals and I have Duals .So yesterday he posted on our club forum that he wants to race me..I also have the 17 in wheels and he has 17 in wheels. Who will win in a zero to 60 and in the quarter mile.

RE: Question.
In a race I would say the Truck might win off the line, but the pt cruiser would start pulling you after the turbo starts boasting. I beleive the PT is a fraction of the weight of the truck. I hope this race would be a legal race at a Drag strip and not on the public roads where you kill yourself or worse someone else.

RE: Question.
It's all about hp/wt ratios. My money would be on the PT turbo. The PT should have #'s close to the SRT-4, just a little heavier. Same engine/turbo. 2.4L Turbo. PT: 220+hp 245+tq. Curb wt. 3300lbs. Ram: 345+hp 375+tq Curb wt: 5300lbs Both are close to 15lbs/hp but it takes more to get that heavy of a truck going. Not sure of exact #'s but you get the point. If you do decide to go for it, make sure you don't have a lot of fuel in the tank and that you get a good RT (reaction time).

RE: Question.
My money is on the PT, but remember, it's a 4 cylinder- not much torque.
HP/LBS is for the top end. For a truck, i would concentrate on TQ/lbs, since the acceleration is the important point. Also, the PT is front wheel drive (right?) and the gears aren't gonna be near the same.
PT: 15 lbs/HP 13.46 lbs/TQ
Ram: 15.36 lbs/HP 14.13 lbs/TQ
The PT has the higher probability, but that isn't calculating in the gears. The truck will probably have lower gears, giving it more torque where it counts. Also, can you slip the transfer case from low range to high range with the vehicle moving in 2wd? The extra torque might help, but it might slow you down. Make some quick 0-30 runs using different techniques and go from there.

RE: Question.
We'll do this down the road some day after the weather get's a little warmer. .I have to get some more mileage on the truck. It only has 4,ooo miles on it so far. Maybe by then one of those new computer chips will be out. to help some. His turbo isn't that fast. My stock pt will give him a run for his money but he will still out run it. but not as good as I thought it would. Maybe one of my friends will try him first. He just got a new jeep with the Hemi in it.
