Default Starting Modifications...Help!

I have had my ram for just over 2 years now and I am getting the itch to modify it. First thing I don't want to get crazy, I just want more power, keeping my warranty, and reliability. I have already done some little aesthetic mods, Tint 20%, vent visors, Mopar Accs. bed cover, mudflaps, rear wheel liners. I am figuring on doing a cat back, cold air intake, throttle body spacer, tuner, and if I am missing any thing let me know. I want the truck to look like it came from the factory after mods are performed. I do not want the truck to be annoyingly lould, (My last truck had the mbrp cat back and it was too lould). I am also wanting to upgrade to the SRT-10 wheels and tires, but I hear that with the wheel liners it will not work. I was wondering if anyone could conferm that. I was also looking to see what kind of gains would be possible with these mods.

Thanks in advance,

Brian

Forget the spacer...waste of money on a dry manifold setup.

first off, here we go steelers here we go!! where in sixburgh are you from? Im from Bethel Park. secondly, welcome to the DF.

on to business... for catback, the flowmaster and magnaflow are probably the most popular. since you dont want something terribly loud and ADDS performance, i'd go with magnaflow. check out the FAQ section for more info.

Cold Air Intake--- they're all about the same performance-wise. I have K&N and love it. some people make their own, some people get cheap ones on ebay. again, check out the FAQ section.

Throttle Body Spacer-- expensive paper weight, nothing more. they're 100% worthless. dont waste your time/money.

Tuner -- there are 2 that would fit your needs. Superchips Flashpaq 3815, and Diablosport Predator. Do some research on this one for sure... you'll find there are a few VERY unhappy predator customers who's engines/trannys had some serious damage done to them caused by the predator. for this reason alone (because their options are very similar), I chose the SC 3815. LOVE IT! couldnt be happier really. Again, check the FAQ. This one will probably void the warranty, so be careful.

Total gains -- CAI (+10), catback (between 10hp loss and 10 hp gain depending on the system you get), tuner (+20ish).

Other mods you could consider depending on your budget:

Electric Fan: For about $75 you can get an old electric fan out of a ford Taurus 3.8L which will fit perfect to replace your clutch fan. Took me about 3 hrs to install. Look for about 10hp gains and 1-2mpg increase.

Longtube headers ($400-$1000 w/ about 30hp gains). Dont waste your time with shorty headers. If you're gonna go through the effort, just get the longtubes...you wont be sorry.

Gears: by far my best mod yet. the 4.56 gears will REALLY wake your baby up. For 2wd look to spend about $800 and about double for 4x4. Again, FAQ and search previous posts.

Long story short, do some searching on here. All your questions are already answered in previous threads. Again, welcome to the forum and go steelers

im thinking about just purchasing the magnaflow cat back exhaust instead of just a aeroturbine muffler.

Man, I can't believe you lasted two years without modding, that is amazing . There are so many different choices out there for exhausts, intakes, etc that I would say your best bet would be to check out the faq and see what others with trucks similar to yours are running and the results they achieved.

Where is Pittsburgh? I just moved from there to VA 7 months ago and its still freaking cold. The only thing I have noticed so far down here is that there is no rust on any of the 2nd gen Rams. Up in PA every single one you see has rust around the rear wheel wells...
