Default 08 2500 Overdrive

I have read some of the threads on the overdrive shut off not alowing the trans into 3rd and 4th, but when I was towing my trailer awhile back on some hills it sucked bad I could not maintain speed. I would slow down in higher gears and speed up in lower, back and forth the whole damn time. It didnt help in tow/hall or od off I could swear it was going into 4th, if I could have keeped it in 3rd i would have been fine. What do you guys think?

O/D off eliminates 4th and 5th...tow/haul eliminates 5th and changes the shift patterns. If o/d off wasn't good enough i'd drop it to second next time....low speeds of course

My old truck on the same hills take overdrive off and cruz at 50 no problem. This truck I would slow down to 40 then it would downshift and go past 50 id ease of the gas and it would shift up right away and I would slow right down again. my foot was tired from pushing and leting off the gas the whole time. Dont tell me I was better off with a 96 chevy
