Default Whats needed to beat a 08 v6 mustang?

Someone with a 2008 v6 mustang say they will kill my tuck in a race and it wont even be close. They have a CAI and programer.

I have a 2005 4x4 1500 hemi quad cab with just a cat back gibbons exhaust.
What else do i need to win?
If i got a programmer and intake would i be able to win?

I really think you would. Those v6 mustangs are not fast, I had the 5.4 in my old F-150 SC and smoked my buddies GT every time we raced. A 5.7 with programmer/exhaust/CAI would make his car look silly

The 08 v6'ers are pumping out 210hp. They weigh 3600lbs and run 15's stock in the 1/4mi. They have lousy torque ratings since it's a v6. However, it would be a good run and i think the Ram would romp off the line and midrange. The mustang would probably catch up and pass after 80 or so because of aerodynmics and less mass.

I'm not so sure. Maybe a regular cab 2wd 5.7 with those mods. A 4wd QC is a heavy truck. With a programmer and intake, the 5th gen v6 should be between 230-250 horse. Take into account it weighs a little more than half your truck. I could type a list of mods so you'd 100% win, but how much are you wanting to spend just to prove him wrong?

This is a VERY generalized comment here. Theres a HUGE difference between, say, a npi gt (96-98), and an s197 gt (05-). If you rolled on your buddies gt like that, I believe it was the npi gt. I had one, lightly modded, and it was slow as hell, lol. The 2.73's were the main culprit, but h/c/i on those cars were pitiful.

OP, I think you might need a bit more mods to win this one. You might pull off a W in the 1/8, but like dirty said, the 6er will likely reel you in and pass you on the back half of the 1320. Plus, cai/tune do wonders for those cars, probably more than it would for you truck.

My buddy was the first one in Shreveport to get a new model gt (so im not sure if that was 04 or 05), he got drafted to the NY Mets and that was his present to himself. And no, I hope you are not talking about anything more that 1/4 mile, because yes, our trucks seem to have a bit of a problem pulling that much weight 100+.
I know my truck is faster than my ford with the 5.4, that is where my reasoning comes from. You don't see a lot of v6 mustangs with too many engine mods, are you sure that he even has anything done to it?

In a short distance run I think you could take him, those 6's aren't fast off the line. In a longer distance like a 1/4 mile, I am not sure.
