02-05 vs 06-08 front suspension
I was nosing around on here and just realized that the later 3rd gens have different front suspension than us early guys.
What's the difference? Did they stop using the torsion bars?
Why?
I'm a man with many questions

IFS. I think the torsion bars are a little better IMHO. Its just a bit more complicated (but still not hard) in lifting and leveling as far as just adding spacers to 06 -08.

All 3rd Gen 1500 4x4s are IFS, except MegaCabs. Whether it be a torsion bar or coil over system. Personally, I like the torsion bars. Besides the "free lift" they are capable of, you never hear of the wobble or vibration problems that you hear about with the coil overs.
The coil overs offer a more car-like ride, which is where all 1/2 tons and SUVs are going, like it or not.
