Question how many pounds can our tailgates take?????

Might be a stupid question, but how much weight can our tailgates handle? I am getting ready to purchase a Harley, 883 Sporty and was wondering if I put a ramp from the tailgate to the ground and run my bike up it into the bed will the tailgate hold? Thanks for any imput.

I've driven my 800+ lb Polaris Sportsman up ramps on my tailgate with no problems. So that's over 1000 lbs including me.

I say it would depend.. mine are already stretched out and when I loaded my truck with wood i stacked some on my tailgate and it rubbed on my bumper and now I have scratch marks on my tail gate. Good ones to. no buffing will fix em... Lessons learned, its a truck.

not much. but cables were getting old. you should have no problems with your bike on the tail. Check the cables, put ur tail gate down and check em 4 play.To know if they're beat, when you put down the tailgate and you can wiggle them without the tailgate moving they need to be changed... this is just from my experience, my 250 did the same...
