thanks for the info they still should be good, havent really used the bed much and its a new truck but i will keep that in mind for later. I have also been thinking about installing I think they are shocks so the tailgate slowly lets down. I will have to check and make sure they will be able to handle the weight.

Why not take the tailgate off?
Drive up into the bed and then put the gate back on?
Is the bed long enough to accomodate the bike, without the extra length of the taligate in the down position?
AL.

I never even thought about that, I will have to look into it. I am pretty sure the bike will fit.

Already done exactly that. The bike will fit fine just slightly diagonally, I wedged the front tire into the left front corner of the box and used three tie down straps and got it so it was damn near part of the bed, I ran over a couple curbs and the bike didn't shift at all for over 3 weeks while I was selling it. The tailgate will hold just fine but if it worries you it's only a 15 second fix.

Another trick to loading motorcycles in trucks is to find a small hill to back up to, I found one and only had to lift the bike about 5 inches, I didn't have a loading ramp but it was pretty easy.

i know its different, but my father in law puts his road king in the back of his 2000 super duty, and drove 1000 miles with the back tire on the gate, no problems.

I got them from summit and I used two 2x10's.
