How much should a 30k check run?
ok guys im coming up on 30k miles and was wondering what should it run? it probably gonna be done at the stealership.... is there anything you guys recommend i have done? thanks
i think it might be alittle early for a tune up? usually people go for that at around 50k. but it wouldnt hurt to to all the fluids and air filter. couple bottles of fuel injector cleaner is a good idea too. dont go to the dealership if you dont have to. do you have a good mechanic you know and trust? Also, since you have an 05 maybe get the racks looked at and see what shape theyre in. youve got some low miles btw.
lol yea well my mom wants me to go to the dealership but i dont want to. and dont really know a good mechanic either...the air filter is good just put the kn at christmas. is there anything else i need done? i know about the diff. fluids which i was quote for 150 for the flush. what about the plugs??
Not if you save the receipts for the stuff you purchase as proof.
At 30k:
Besides inspecting about everything you could think of you should:
Change plugs, they are copper core and should be done at 30k. Replace with the Champion Coppers, they are cheap. The rear two are a bi^ch, but with a universal joint adapter you can get to them.
Differential, pop the pumpkin cover, inspect and replace the fluid.
Clean the TB and at least inspect the EGR, they are both mpg and performance robbers if dirty and not functioning properly.
Book says Transmission, but if you don't haul and tow, can probably wait until 50k, and the radiator fluid can probably wait until then too.
But check your extended warranty, they may be required to keep it intact.
These are basic, hand tool things and there is no reason you shouldn't save $300-400 in labor doing these yourself...
