Anyone ever install their own PA body lift??
I'm thinkin of ordering one next weekend and im very mechanically inclined so i was debating over paying someone to do it or do it myself....
See i bought a set of cooper zeons last year and i love em but about a month after i put them on i leveled the front out and now my tires look too small. So i found a set of half-worn Pro-Comp Xterrains 35x12.5x17 for $100 (couldnt pass on em) from a local guy and next weekend im ordering mickey thompson classic II's.. i was also debating ordering the body lift. i know the tires would fit without the lift, but i have money to buy it so should I? also i dont know how much it'll cost to have the lift installed but if its not that difficult id rather do it myself with some buddies. Plus one good thing is the truck isn't my daily driver so there isnt a deadline for me to finish... what do y'all think?
decisions... decisions... decisions... ha it took me like a week to figure what rim to go with.. haha
oh and also when i do this im gonna be selling the coopers and probably the rims if anyone's interested... but definetly the tires.. they're standard size 275/60-r20 with about 3000 miles on them.. pretty much brand new. And the rims are stock 20's chrome not chrom clad and are in really good shape.. pm me if anyones interested. i paid around $700 for the tires, asking $500 and ill sell the rims for around $400-500

yeah i have the docs from your post in the diy section and i have all the tools you listed... but let me ask ya, on their website, they have the kit #60123 which is 03-05 RAM 1500 2 & 4 WD, ALL GAS ENGINES, 2500 / 3500 2WD ONLY and kit #60103 which is 03 RAM 1500, STD, EXT, DUALLY, 2WD, 4WD, HEMI ONLY.... i have an 03 ram w/ the hemi so will either of them work for my application? also just so i know does anyone know the average cost to have one installed? i have the money to pay someone to do it so is it just worth it to pay and save the time and aggravation?

yeah im waiting on responses from a few buddies of mine to help. I asked my local 4x4 shop (meadowlands 4x4) and they're pretty much trying to rape me cause they said they normally wont install a lift that they didnt sell but they'll do it on a saturday for $600-$700... just for the install!! they're on crack. i told the guy that i can get the lift brand new from 4wheelparts.com right now for $350 and he said that he pays more than that his cost and they usually sell them for like $610. so im definitley ordering it now with the wheels and then ill just figure out when and where im gonna install it.
oh one quick question... i know in the instructions it says to weld a piece for the manual trans lever, but what about the transfer case lever? it doesnt say anything about welding that i have an automatic so i f theres no welding needed that makes my life a lot easier.

jk, your local guy is a rapist! I've got a local shop here that does them I've sent a couple of people to. They are also a very good gear shop for you guys in Florida.
4 Wheel Parts has a dealer wholesale division, this local shop buys from them and can afford to price match 4 Wheel Parts pricing, provided you have the labor done there. Last guy I sent there paid $850 plus tax for the PA kit, installation on his '06 Ram QC 1500 and included the gap guards...

i actually called the guy i bought the used tires from and asked if the shop he worked for would do it or him and i could do it on the side ad i'd pay him and he said the shop he worked for would do it for $375 and thats if they have to fabricate anything. so i told him that ive done my reasearch and im 99% sure that the lift comes with EVERYTHING!! so hopefully its an easy install that takes them shorter than they realize and its even cheaper.. that would be sweet.. oh and one thing that makes me laugh about the whole sitiuation is my wife doesnt know im doing the lift.... she just knows about the wheels/tires... hell she helped me pick out the rims.. i was stuck on like 5 different wheels and she liked the classic II's.... she rocks!!! haha
