Default Cant get longer shocks for 03 2wd

SO i bought the daystar 2 1/2 leveling kit for my 03 2wd and went back down to the 4x4 shop today to buy some longer shocks cus everyone on here said you pretty have to have them. So the guy's lookin on the computer and after a few minutes says no one sells a longer then stock shock for my truck. Then he goes on to tell me i dont need one anyways cus my bump stops will prevent my truck from over extending the shocks and such. I'm pretty sure he's giving me BS right, which seems weird cus wouldnt he wanna make a sale but anyways where do you guys find longer then stock shocks. And also do i need shocks or struts? he was saying some stuff and im new to this hole thing so does my truck have shocks or struts and whats the difference?

He's lying. I have the exact same leveling kit as you do and mine is also a 2wd. I got ProComp ES3000's.

Pretty much every shock company makes a shock that'll fit your truck as it stands.

If I am not mistaken, I remember someone a while back saying that with the 2wd's we have to use shocks that are made for 2500's, even on our 1500's. Not sure what the specifics were, however, just remember them in reference to the Rancho's.

Mine didn't need 'em. Still OEM shocks at almost 100K.

Heres what I would do. Measure your stock shock... off the truck. Go in there and tell them you need a (stock length, plus 2"), and tell them your building a buggy, and thats what you need.

I cant seem to find the procomp es3000's or es9000's longer then stock. 4wheelparts is giving me the option when i buy shocks of how much lift i have but those two shocks are both for only 0inch lift

Yea..."Technically" the dude is right. There is not a longer shock for a 2003 2wd Ram 1500, per se. But there are longer shocks made, like the billies i put on mine, made for a 2500. Dude @ the 4x4 shop just doesn't know how to think creatively.

so i just have to tell him i want a shock for a 2500 2wd truck then? Is he right about not needing a shock though, he said cus of the bump stops my truck will never over extend my stock shock anyways. The owner of the shop was standing right there and its a canadian wide 4x4 chain and the owner said you can trust anything he says hes my most experienced guy.
