Default Not a "Hemi" ?

I've read that the new Hemi is not a "real Hemi", Being somewhat ignorant in the whole thing, could someone tell me why the new "Hemi" is not a "real" Hemi?

Being a proud new owner of an 06 Ram 1500 with a, you guessed it... a 5.7 "Hemi", I'd like to have my facts straight.

Thanks

thats not true. ive seen the head gaskets off of one. and they definitely have hemispherical piston heads!! but they are not as round as the old hemi's in the older hemi-cudas and such. but only to make it more reliable!!

Technically the 5.7 in the new rams is not a real Hemi. A genuine Hemi from back in the day had hemispherical combustion chambers. Chrysler simply used the name for marketing. The good thing is that the power produced by the 5.7 can live up to the name.

That's incorrect. The 5.7 in dodge rams have polyspherical chambers.

The term "Hemi" is deprived from the word hemispherical. The Hemi's from the 60's had hemispherical combustion chambers, where the new hemi has polyspherical chambers.
