Thanks for the info abarmby . The shaving/ glittery stuff was very minimal but there. Most of it was in a sludge type goo stuck to the magnet. I would agree that it's probably because I waited this long to change the oil... I usually never follow up on diff oil changing in any vehicle I've ever had. I always thought it was BS so the stealership could get more money. After I read about the LSD probs I decided to change the oil. I put RP in and might change it again in another 50K *shrug* since it's not a LSD rear.

Yeah, that does sound like normal, due to the high mileage between oil changes.
My diff, with the clips actually cutting into the carrier, actually had sparklies in the diff oil. A really recognisable and easily identifiable fault.
Having the open diff, you will have none of these problems. Do you have a 4x4 though?
If so, save up and get installed a DTT or Aurburn LSD. That way you have the choice of what LSD you have and it will be bullet proof.
