Default Been out for a while, Another Gear question.

Howdy guys, Been out for a while. Work has been lacking so I went out of town for a week. I see I haven't missed a whole lot.

So I was thinking, I am gonna drop the rear to level and install some 17" wheels with some 30" to 32" tires. Currently I have the stock 20's with 33's on em and there are 3.92 gears in the back. I was seriously getting upgraded to the 4.56 gears.

The question I have for ya, with a 30" to 32" tire, would I be overkill going to the 4.56?

Unless you are planning on going to the track on the weekends, IMO you don't need more than the 3.92's you currently have...

, I was thinkin about it, Would 4.56's make it unstreetable? Besides, I gotta keep up with folks like you hammer.

No, not unstreatable by any means. But with the smallish size tires, your RPM's are going to get there fast!
You'll have the best 1/4 times by far over your current gears, but I'd imagine your mpg's will suffer.
We do it because the big tires effect engine rpm negatively, the 4.56s in most cases with 35's serve to get the performance back to about stock level.

And no, 'dog, I don't think he's gonna find a lot for him with a search. We almost never get on the subject of gears with stock or smaller than stock size tires...
