Question Electric window issue and a challenge

Hey Everyone. I have been reading all over this forum for help in regards to my electric window issue I am having with my 2004 dodge ram 1500 quad cab hemi.

My issue. Today while driving to work, my drivers side window would roll down. Upon getting closer to work, it tried to roll it up. Not working. What a bummer. I have a nice stereo and really do not like leaving the truck available in the parking lot (big box store).

Well, over the last year I have had issues with the passenger window as well. The passanger window will not (most of the time) work at all from the passanger control switch. The master control switch works it just fine (yes, I have made sure that the window lock was on and off for test purposes).

Well, I get it home and I boughts some electrical connection cleaner to see if cleaning the master switch would help. Took the switch out and removed the bezel and sprayed away. Waited about ten minutes and hooked it back up. All windows work except for the drivers side (of course the passanger side was still nonoperational from the passenger switch but really not an issue). Got back on this forum to search for any other ideas that would allow me to get my window up until I can get a new switch (hence the challenge).

Is there not a way to jumper the pins on the plug that goes into the master control switch in order to get a window back up? If so, this would really help anyone that should have this issue in the future. Power goes to the plug, so knowing this with what pin location and or wire colors would make a vehicle safe should this happen to any of us. It only takes a scewdriver to pop the switch out and the wiring is readly available. I only need it for the drivers side, but I am sure that if this were possible without blowing too many fuses that it would be wire specific for each additional window.

Any Thoughts?

Oh, after an hour of searching, I went back out to my truck and now the window works again. Maybe just needed a little time for the cleaner to work. Still going to order a new switch.

Here is just another something that I noticed when I purchased this truck new and has happened all along. If I have both back windows down and the cruise control on, when I go to roll up both windows at the same time, it kicks my cruise control off. Hmmmm...................

Thanks all,

Danimal

I would check the voltage at the motot before you replace the switch. Make sure that is the problem. I have seen basd motors act the same way. They stop in a certain spot with bad windings and may not work until the door is opened and closed a couple of times to jolt the motor.

I was thinking that as well, but the motor does work going down. I just did not roll it all the way down as I did not want it stuck that way should I not be able to get it back up. I will however check the motor as well. But I also think a switch is in order as the passenger side window does not go up or down for the passanger side except every once in awhile. All other windows work fine.

Thanks
