Got a problem
Yes I am a semi new driver to dodge rams... I use to drive a friends ram around but now I own my own ram.
I drive a 2002 Dodge ram 4.7L and I have having issues with it.... My lights come on as soon as I turn the key over my switch for the lights have no effect on them what so ever...
I get no brake lights i get no turn singals and no brights.... my dash says my blinkers work but it seems like its not getting to the lights them selves.... my tail lights are aftermarket they have carbon fiber around them... I turn the truck over and the head lights come straight on and the tail lights turn straight on... the only brake light i get is my third brake light on the cab...Driving down the high way doing hand singals isn't fun.... I looked under the dash and found this piece hanging... when i hit the brake the rod moves in and when off the brake it moves out i'm missing the piece that goes on that but i don't know if that has to do with my brake lights....
I would of thought it would of been bulbs but I was thinking thats to easy of a fix.... especially for all of them to act up the way they are...

if you have headlights, front turn signals, and the 3rd brake light you can def rule out anything from the cab forward. Find the wires that go to the rear (usually down the drivers side) and see if any of them are messed up. If nothing is working, its more than likely not grounded. Make sure the black wire is grounded to something (usually the frame).
My guess would be maybe a wire is grounding off somthing? I'd imagine the piece you have hanging is most likely the sensor that knows when you're applying brakes. I'm not the best with electrical problems but i'm sure a few guys will chime in...
mopar you might have hit the nail on the head. On the inside of the dash there is a button type sensor that is compressd when the brake pedal is not pressed (this causes a closed circuit and keeps the brake lights off). when you press the brake pedal, this sensor is released, opening the circuit, causing the brake lights to come on (which is why the lights come on before the pads actually make contact with the rotor).
Your description of "something hanging down" was kind of vague, but if it looks like a button of some kind, thats what it is. Your brake lights would also be on all the time, because the sensor isnt in place to allow the brake pedal to push the sensor in (turning off the brake lights). however, this wouldnt necessarily fix the turn signal issue (or the lack of high beams).
This is possibly more than one problem (did all of this happen all at once?), then again, a loose/disconnected ground can cause seriously weird things to happen electrically.

The thing about the head lights.... they come on right when i turn the truck on.... my switch does nothing to the lights.... i get no turn singals front or back.... and no brake lights.... so that brake sensor.... you suggested anyone got a part number for it? or technical name for it?

when i pulled up on a 18 wheeler carrying gas... almost a mirror lol i flashed my brights got nothing.... checked my turn singals got nothing.... no its like my running lights are are the only thing..... but like i said my switch does nothing to the lights i turn the truck over and boom my head lights come on my tail lights come on ( and the switch says my lights are suppose to be off)

As for the turn signals, it really seems like a bad fuse, ground wire, or lack of current getting to them. Start at the tailights and work your way forward with the voltmeter checking for 12v. There is also a turn signal solenoid (usually next to the brake solenoid) so you could test it also.
Its really hard to diagnose this without being there and seeing it. My best advice was go out with a voltmeter and start checking connections. After tracing wires/connections, eventually you'll find the trouble.
Well, if the thing that is hanging is the brake sensor that has a button on it, try having a buddy push in the button and check and see if your brakes light up. As for a part number I can't help you.. I'm not exactly sure on what you need, if its a wire comming off the unit or the unit itself. If it is the unit itself it may have a part # on it. If not, My suggestion would be to call up the dealership and try to describe the part to the best of your ability to them, maybe they can identify it.
I'm not exactly sure on the signals and brites... My first guess would be a fuse, but as you said they are all okay..
