Lol, that wasn't a question, I was stating that when I've run poly in the past, I notice the deep bass hit a little better. I've always been partial to small sealed boxes, they fit easy in places and I like the tight bass response they give compared to bandpass or ported boxes, so that's what I've always used.

Also if you are going with a box that big, you might as well go dual and go with a foxbox. I have heard bad things about the prefabs for our truck, and I have never been a fan of a prefabricated mds box.

I thought FoxAcoustics.com had a sealed single enclosure once, but I do not see it on the site. You may email him with that... He might make you one. joefox@foxacoustics.com

Their boxes are awesome, I have one, as do many others on the forum. There have been no complaints that I have seen...just a thought.

thanks for all the info guys..

if i can remember right, those fox boxes are higher on the penny scale, and kind of out of my budget. I just want a little bit of bass to back up the speakers.. im not lookin to win best sounding system.. i just want some thump and i wouldnt mind it being clean..

as far as the poly, and space requirements, etc.. the box is just under spec for the CVR 12.. so that poly would probably end up doing the trick..

about doing a dual enclosure.. first i want to keep one little cubbyhole (drivers side) for some random stuff i like to keep in the truck. (hitch, gloves, breaker bar, flash light, etc..). plus i dont want to spend 500 on a setup.. my goal is around/less then 250 ..

getting the sub for $35 from a friend (slightly used).. amp for around $130ish (will spend more if i have to).. and the prefab box is about $90..

ill keep you guys posted on what i end up doing, and ill for sure post pics of the install and maybe a little write-up to contribute to DF. [=

also, real quick.. about amp kits.. i see some no name 4 gauge amp kits on ebay for like $40.. is that any different then if i went with a brand name like a 4 ga. kit from tsunami or raptor or something? they both have the same stuff in the kit.. (RCA's, power, ground, signal, etc.)

thanks guys

I am in the middle of a stereo install, paid around 60 for a wiring kit from Knukonceptz.com, with an extra 20' of higher gauge speaker wire for changing out factory. Seemed like the kit I saw the most on DIY audio sites as far as best quality for the price. Seems like you are trying to do the same thing I am for my truck, better base without waking the neighbors. I built a sealed box to replace my center console for 10 bucks in MDF. Not really rocket science if you know the requirements of the sub.

I'm not an audio expert by any means, doing my first real system on my 2nd gen, asked for tips from the forums. One thing you should know before you buy any box is the requirements of the sub you are getting. Sub I bought had a rating (sealed enclosure) of .53-.98 cubic feet. Ideal was rated as .75' with poly. So I ended up building a box that's .73ish.

quick question, will a 5 1/2" deep sup fit fine in a probox for under our back seats? Im getting an awesome deal tomorrow on a new probox, but I am now worried that I won't get a very good sounding system with it?

I used to have a Probox with two Kicker 10s. Mounting depth of those are 5 9/16 so you will be fine.
