Exclamation Removing rear bumper + tow hitch?

Ok first off, i used the search button and didnt find anything. I just got my new roll pan today and am trying to take the rear bumper off my 06 1500 SLT. It has the tow package. It looked like it was 4 bolts straight forward but after closer examination it's not.

The big round tube for my tow package is welded to brackets that are bolted to my frame (kinda looks like the tube is going through the frame). I took the bolts out, but it seems the only possible way for the whole assembley to come out is to take the bed off. Am i just missing something? If i can get the tow package off, the bumper will come off. I need help asap!

Thanks

This is what it looks like

I remember seeing something recently on the forum about this. IIRC, you need to raise the bed about 6" to get the factory hitch off.

Well i didn't expect to take my truck apart just to install a roll pan

Is the bed easy to lift up?

3 guys and a case of beer should do it, 2 to lift the bed and 1 to pull the hitch out

Sounds good. Is the bed fairly easy to disconnect from the frame?

Should be four bolts, maybe six. Take the rear bolts out the bed and just the loosen the ones toward the cab

Okay theres 4 bolts near the back and 2 near the cab (cab are pain in ***) I tried to get my bed off today but didnt have enough time.

Is there anyone who has removed a factory hitch? It seems like the tubing is going straight through the frame.
