Cam Question
I have heard a lot of good things about the Spartan cam lately. Seems like a lot of guys are getting good results with that cam. There are a lot of other good cams out there too for the QC trucks. If you get a new cam you are going to need new springs, push rods and most likely a tune depending on which cam you go with.

Without going through the trouble of reading the link that 'teach provided, it's pretty much a standard thing to do springs, retainers and rods with a cam swap...
To the OP: The 6.1 Cam is a higher rpm cam, you'll gain a little bit of upper end HP, but lose a good bit of lower end Torque. Great for a lighter car, maybe even an improvement on a RC 4x2, but anything heavier will suffer from the low end torque loss.
Many who have gone to this cam have taken it back out, sometimes upgrading to a good "torque cam", like the Comp 260, KRC 210, Spartan, etc. Some have opted just to put their 5.7 cam back in. So basically the 6.1 cam on a truck is a waste of time even though the cost is quite low...
