Well you could make one out of pvc pipe and just buy a filter to test out if the extra noise is gonna bother you. There are a few options and they all perform pretty close to one another. You could get a kit that keeps the stock airbox (where the filter is) and replaces the tubing going to the throttle body with a smooth metal or plastic tube. You could also get one that is an open filter with a big tube and a heat shield around the filter (this is what I have). True flow makes a good kit that keeps the stock airbox and can be found on amazon for 150 or less. Spectre, AEM, Mopar, and some other knockoffs make one with an open filter. The spectre is about 160 and can be found on airram.com and the knockoffs are on ebay and carpartswholesale.com.

well, the intake won't make it sound different at all. the fact you're running a flowmaster 40 will drain out ANY noise coming from the intake.

put it on. rock on.

don't waste your time...won't sound like anything. here's what it sounds like....

and you're 40series is louder than mine (i used to have the 40), and all u hear is the low moan of the intake...nothing ricey about it. we don't have vtec engines with that crazy boost/scream in timing...so it won't sound like an asian ricer....only look like one...with a neon.

Well the v6's are pretty ricey at higher rpms, but you don't have to buy an intake you can just make it outta pvc. Plenty of people have, just do a search in the 3rd gen section for more info. I'm not worried about how my truck sounds as long as I can give it a little more power.

Yea, sounds like you're feeling the same way all of us v6 owners do.

ebay has some good ones for low prices. just be sure to get the full one that goes from the TB to the wheel well where you can maximize your cool air intake
