Default Hemi MPG's????

I ran into a fellow with a really sweet Hemi Edtion QC 4X4. During our chat I asked him if the truck will really get 17 MPG highway. His response was that it does better than his old 318, 1997 Ram. He said he has gotten as much as 22 MPG highway at 75 MPH, but he didn't see any good mileage until after about 4000 miles. The truck is complely stock and has 392's and 20"s

Is this possible?

That may depend on his mods....but I wouldn't think he could, not if he's drivin 75 and in a 4x4 at that. I have cat-backs and a K&N filter...I saw my mileage go up from 19.9 to 22mpg...but that's also driving stricty at 65 or under...

He might be doing that, but it sounds high to me...I've never seen over 17 highway and thats only if I do under 65. I can't imagine what he's done or doing to get that at 75.

I get 14.5 on the highway, downhill, with a tailwind. No mods other than a drop in K&N filter though.

last tank I avg. ~11 mpg on my 2500. I'm hoping that will go up a bit after i put more miles on it. (1000 miles right now) I've never really seen to many numbers for the hemi in the HD, I'm assuming they'd be about 1-2 mpg below the 1500's cuz of weight.
