I did the cam swap with Matt (the delaware guy), he's a buddy of mine.

You can do a swap for a thousand. Find a used cam for around $300, get some springs and rods for $150, $550 for labor= about $1000.

Well, when the Diablo is supporting '04 trannies, I'll be doing mine. I'm going to try it myself. I've done springs, but never a cam. I know step by step exactly what to do, but lack the experience.
I've talked to KRC about it and may watch them do one while I'm waiting on Diablo. I think my only issue right now is confidence, and watching an install should take care of that...

I would love to try one myself one day but it would have to be on a truck that is not my DD. That way if I had a problem I could take the time to fix it without having to worry about being stranded. I will tell you this, I have seen them done on other vehicles and it doesn't seem that hard if you have all the right tools. I think having the right tools is the key.

Cams are fairly straight forward, but time consuming. You're not tearing into the engine like a piston swap or something. Pull off the radiator, remove the valve covers, 15 bolts holding the timing cover on, and then you're at the cam. There is a little more to it than that, but you're 95% there with just the above.

Well my reasoning (besides saving the labor cost) is that as long as the truck is at my mother's, it's only 3 miles from KRC Performance. So if I got into trouble, help is close by.
Plus, my Grand Cherokee is my daily driver, so I can afford to take as long as needed or even go get help if necessary...

I know you guys have ind of gone on another note here, but froggy, how common is it to find a used cam, such as an HO cam? Also, just to make sure, with the HO camand the 4.7, I will need to run the SCT right?

hhhmmm. From what I understand, the HO cams are good cams for these 4.7's. So I thought that would be the cam I would go with, eventually. Good to know I can buy a SC now, and not have to worry about buy another later.
