Get the intake before the tuner. Running a tuner on the stock intake will work, but tuner will not be as effective without a freer breathing intake. Don't feel the need to waste a lot of money on an expensive name brand intake. A tube is a tube. The important part is the filter. You can buy the intake tubing on ebay, or fashion your own, and buy a good K&N filter for a third of the price of most intake kits.
im going to purchase them both, eventually. which would you reccomend first?
im looking at the bfi intake and the diablo tuner.
what are you guys running?
I would get the tuner first if it was me. The tuner gives you a lot more bang for the buck and it gives you options that you can tweek and adjust.
Since you have an 04 like me, you might want to consider a SC tuner too. Since the DSP doesn't control our trannies, you don't get all of the functionality that the 06+ guys get from the Diablo. Now, if they come out with trans control for the 04 I would say go with the DSP.
I'd get the CAI first. If you're already thinking about getting both, it probably won't be long before you order the tuner as well. They complement each other. I'm running an AIRAID CAI system with SC Cortex tuner. The sooner you make the mods, the longer you'll enjoy them.
Which ever you decide on the tuner and CAI tube get a dry filter....like a Amsoil synthetic or AEM's dryflow. Technology has advanced enough that there's no need for that oil crap...you just vaccum them out and they're clean.
