Default 02 Ram AC Clutch question

2002 Ram 1500 with 4.7 Motor, When the truck has been running for awhile and things are warm under the hood the AC clutch will not pull in. You can feel magnatism near the clutch and if you tap on the clutch it will pull in and AC will get cold until it cycles off then next time again it will not pull the clutch in. Any thoughts? Anybody see this problem before? Has anybody taken the clutch assy apart before?

i wouldnt recommend taking it apart, i tried taking the clutch assy apart on my 95 camaro and ended up saying f-it and got a ac bypass cause i messed it up pretty bad.
on the other hand i used to have problems with my ac clutch engaging on my durango, with the 5.2L(dont know how similar those engines are to the 4.7L) but all i did was bypass the low pressure switch with a jumper wire.
DO NOT BYPASS THE HIGH PRESSURE SWITCH!!!! if you try this make sure you know what switch your working with.

Your clutch is going bad. Replace it. It is not the low pressure switch.

lxman1,
Do you think I can get away with just replacing the clutch or should I replace the coil and pully as well? Do you think the problem is the gap is too far and that is why the coil cannot pull it in? Once again I do get 12 volts to the coil and you can feel the magnetism but its not pulling the clutch in.
