Default Need some exhaust help

I just got a SC 3815 for my 05 4.7 ram and now am looking to keep the modding addiction going. I am looking at a K&N FIPK CAI and a magnaflow 5x8 DOR 14" muffler. I want to get rid of our restrictive Y-Pipes. I was just wondering if this Y-Pipe would work and how I would put it on? I am going to take my FM 50 muffler off and replace it with the Magnaflow, put would I have to cut the stock y-pipe and weld this one to the two pipes that are coming out after the cats? http://www.airram.com/product.php?ca...chquery=y-pipe

You have the right idea with replacing the stock y-pipe with the magnaflow but you need the one that is dual 2.5" into single 3". And you will have to weld it in.

The pipes coming off the cats are 2.5" on a 05 ram 4.7? I thought that they were 3''. So I take it that they are 2.5'' off the cats and then once they get smashed together they become a 3''? I have a friend that is a mechanic that would do it practically for free. So I don't see a downside to increasing the flow and performance of my truck. So Ill have the 3815 tuner, K&N 57 CAI, 180 jet t-stat, Mag Y-Pipe, and Mag muff completed within a couple of weeks. All I need next is the Gibson headers and maybe some magna free-flow cats. That 4.7 is really going to be woken up. lol

I didn't realize you have a 4.7, so I don't know if it is different or not. The one I got for my truck is 2.5" in and 3" out, but I don't have the 4.7. Maybe someone with the 4.7 would know for sure.

For the 4.7 I'm pretty sure you need a dual 2.25 to single 3 inch Y pipe...

2.25"? really? I fiqured it would be the same as the hemi's for the exhaust at least. Both engines do need to breathe. I think it is more along the lines of 2.5'' in/3'' out.
