Im getting a leveling kit for 60 bucks tomorrow. the guy said that he never used and paid 135 dollars without shipping cost. i talked him down to 60 bucks from 75 cuz i still need to get front bumper. I also planning to have all dent and scratch to be repaired by auto shop.

what else i need for bringing up the front end? shocks?

 

You can get a TopGunCustomz leveling kit for about $100 brand new, just make sure they have not been used. You will NOT need new shocks just to level it out. The only thing you will need is to get an alignment done right after.

 

Oh okay, this guy said it was never been used for his truck. I will check if it is brand and if it has that smell of being new then ill take it. Is it easy do level at home or have someone do it? I dont want to spend that much..

I am working more hours for my truck repairs and more mods will come in summer. I am planning to get cooper tires with 20 inch sport black rims.

 

The leveling kit is easy to put in.. I did mine in just over an hour.. But your truck has the older torsion bar style so I have no idea how it works, Mine were just spacers that went on top of the struts where as yours are some sort of keys i think?? maybe someone else will chime in.. either way leveling kits are easy to put in and look good!!

 

Torsion keys are a bit harder to do. They recommend doing it with the torsion bar unloading tool. Looks just like a "C" clamp. They also say you can do it with just a 2 arm gear puller; i tried, and it doesnt work. lol

If you do it at home, the steps are easy, just be careful when you do it. There is a lot energy stored in the torsion bars, so when you release the keys, just watch everything. (Even though the truck will be in the air)

For me, I ended up paying a local 4x4 shop to do it for $40. I then took it home, remeasured and leveled, then had it aligned. I went with new shocks, but my truck sits higher in the front now. I have my 2.5" kit, almost all the way up. If you decide to get new shocks, you can usually find a new set at 4wheelparts on sale for around $70 OTD.

So since I have a 06 and if I get a leveling kit, do I need to buy new shocks for the front? Is it necessary to do that or just get a alignment and I will be all set?

You do not have to get new shocks. The factory shocks will be fine. Just make sure to get the alignment.
