Fiat Question...
I'm not a math major but if I know my basic number system, "Fiat owning 20% of Chrysler's shares" doesn't mean they own Chrysler. Don't you have to have more than half the shares to say you're an "owner" of a company? I keep reading newsclips that say Fiat owns Chrysler now. How do you figure? 55% of those shares still belong to the UAW.
I fully admit that I just flat out might not understand something here and am making an ignorant oversight or something - if someone could clear up my confusion I'd appreciate it.

Fiat merged with Chrysler and can have the opportunity to own up to 35% but no more.
That is considered a "major" shareholder and has perspective say in what takes place.
I wouldn't get caught up in the Politics of it all. Just woory how it will effect you as a consumer.
I just found an article that is dated, but puts things into laymans terms.

i think the term "owner" is used very loosely. technically, if you own 1 share, you're a partial owner... im not a math major either, but i do have a degree in business management
