so i got to thinking
That would be way more practical. Would not have to worry about messing with suspension, computers, exhaust, etc.
it was a joke, but if i really wanted, i could debadge the 2500 and rebadge it with 1500 to mess with people
a half ton diesel would be nice for those of us who like the power and hauling ability, without having the stiff suspension of a 3/4 ton. I drove a 3500 and damn, that thing was like driving with bricks for leafs.

If you would torque your frame too much, you would probably bend it. But that would be from just really hammering on it. And other 1500 components on the truck would be breaking. I haven't heard anything on the 1500 diesels lately. They should release them sooner, get better mpgs out of a 1500 truck over the gasser.
And to make a 2500 look like a 1500, badges are the only thing you would need. And you could just debadge it, then it would be a debaged truck.
And for ride, we had some guys come to pick up something from at work, and they had a 3500 Mega Cab dually, and they said that it rode like a Cadillac.

I think the frame of the 1500 would handle it, that wouldn't be at the top of my list of concerns. The drivetrain and suspension would. The CTD is a heavy engine compared to any of the gas engines, the front end would need beefed up to support it, and the CTD would grind the stock 1500 drivetrain to pieces. For the amount of money you'd put into the swap and doing it right, you might as well find yourself a 2500.

exactly the same conclusion i came to.
