Default so i got to thinking

how cool would it be to have a diesel powered 1500? I think if i ever blow the engine in my ram, i'll drop a diesel in it. Do you think that the diesel engine in a 2500 would fit in the engine bay of a 1500?

has anyone else done this already?

havnt heard of that but it would be badass!
would the 1500 platform be able to handle all that power?
what about on a 4x4? ifs with a big azz diesel? not too sure about that one.

if i were to drop a diesel in it, i would definitely beef up everything and track down proper axles for it. i'm not a fan of IFS on trucks anyway, i bought a TRUCK not a SISSY MOBILE

in the end, it would probably be about the same as a 2500, but with lighter suspension.

if you're going to replace the IFS with a solid axle, wouldn't be a lighter suspension anymore really, not by much. and your frame might not be able to handle all the torque if you tow or haul heavy...why not just get the 2500?

It would be stupid to put a ctd in a 1500. Just get a 2500

I would think it would fit since the trucks are identical. Is Chrysler still coming out with the diesel 1500.

It's just a restructuring, not the end of the company. There will be more new and different vehicles to come. A 5L diesel is on the back burner for now until the restructuring is complete.
