Disconnecting Front sway bar

Disconnecting Front sway bar
I've heard its fine to do when wheeling or even just leave it off all the time. I have an 03 1500 2wd. I get pretty much no flex what so ever in my front end so with the sway bar off will that increase my flex? And will it cause other problems? I know jeeps sway bars disconnect easily and the power wagons automaticaly do but they have solid axles. Is it gonna cause problems for me with IFS if i disconnect them ?

You know what, they say dont drive with it disconnected. I hd a link break on my in my jeep, and it was rockin ride. When my buddy broke his on his duramax, he had to tow a gooseneck load the next day, and didnt have it connected, and he didnt see a difference in handling.
Safer to leave it on. I will say this, your front end was designed with a sway bar, you should probably leave it that way. lol. but its always fun to push things to the limits.

Some might disagree, but I think an occasional disconnection wont hurt. You might find, that its probably going to be a pain in the a$$ to do it. So try finding some quick disconnects, maybe off of a powerwagon?
I noticed most of your sig pics are of your truck flexin out. You should look into a straight axle conversion, maybe a four link should be involved. just a thought.

Id love to have a solid axle up front, but im no where near having those kinds of funds right now. Yeah some quick disconnects might be a good idea though, i could always talk to the off-road shops and see if they have any ideas, however they usually just feed me BS. It is only a total of 6 bolts to take the whole thing off though on my 2wd truck atleast, it would be something me and a buddy could do in 5 minutes. I might even check out some jeeps see what they use for thier quick disconnects.

You know what I would do, is do a search on JKS quick disconnects. Take a look at their setup. I ran them on my jeep when it was leveled, and after it was lifted, and loved them to pieces, the best $70 i ever spent.
Anyways, I dont know how much you are for fabbing, but they are a fairly simple design. Im sure you can make them yourself, I know some of the wrangler guys do it all the time.

Theres the link. All you would need is a pin release somewhere in the mix. If you have a welder, a torch, and a steel supply near by, its an easy mod.
