Default Paint Help!

So I just spent an hour searching through all the debadging threads but nothing helped.

I debadged my silver 08 yesterday and got an unpleasant surprise! It looks like the paint AROUND the adhesive is jacked up! I used fishing line and adhesive remover but the damage isn't where the tape was but around the area. My first thought was that the badges were applied prior to the paint drying or the clear coat was applied incorrectly. The imperfections are not visible when your looking down the side of the truck, only when you're looking on from the side. Also, the "darker" areas are rough to the touch and not smooth like the rest of the paint. Anybody had this happen? Got any advice? I'm thinking about taking it back to the dealer to tell them they painted the truck wrong or something. Thanks!!!

kind of reminds of ghost badges lol
it would be cool if they were flames but oh well. are you sure there is no adhesive there because that might account for the outline

The pics were taken after I cleaned the area and applied a little polish, hoping it would help. The area inside the "RAM" is the same color and texture as the rest of the truck. Even used a steel putty knife thinking there may be a little adhesive left, but it didn't help. The ghost area is rough and a little darker than the inside and outside of my "RAM" logo...

Safe to use on paint? I don't want to mess anything up trying something, then have the dealer say it's all my fault.

You could potentially try a clay bar. It would remove contaminants in the paint around that area..... I don't know if it would help or not, but it might be worth a shot.

Try some buffing compound with a rag. I use LiquidIce compound. It's pretty cheap and doesnt leave so much of a dull look that compound gives before polishing. If you have a buffer you should definitely try that.

Thanks guys...I've been wanting to buy some sort of buffer/polisher. Always done it by hand but I guess this gives me an excuse!

Make sure you get a good one, (dewalt mekita or w/e) and make sure it looks like a grinder not one of the chepo spinning wheel. Those will get you no where.
