Default Flowmaster 40/50????

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi. I was wondering if the 40 or 50 series would be a better muffler. I thought I read somewhere on this site that the 40 did work as well with the Hemi. I am doing a search to try and find that post. Any input would be great. Thanks.

I have a buddy who let me here his 40's last night on his 2nd gen ram. They sound nice but LOUD. Like deafening. May have just been the effects of Amberbock on me though. I'm looking at having a series 50 catback system with split dual exhausts put on my 04 ram within a few weeks. I hear the 50's put a good sound out and a nice rumble, but they don't kill your neighbors. (i.e. you can still sneak off in the mornings)[sm=wakeup.gif]

I have dual flowmaster 40 series... Since they are far enough back under the bed it isnt that loud.. If you ask me, they could be louder....

I have the Flowmaster 40s on my 04 QC. They sound great, but they are loud. At idle, it's a low rumble. On the road at 30-35 mph (about 2000rpm) is when they are at the loudest drone -- enough to annoy the jerk in the Civic driving next to you, and enough to have to raise your voice a little if you ar sitting in the cab. Most of the time you hear a low rumble in the cab, no matter what the speed.

However, the best (or worst?) is when you drop the hammer. I definitely enough to wake the neighbors and sounds great.

I have 40 series with catback and 2 3 1/2 angle cut stainless steal tips running out the back. I love the sound. Very deep (everyone looks at you). It does get on my nerves after an hour driving if i don't have my stereo system up. The deepness just gets into your ears to much.

This may be a dumb question, but what do you mean by you'll lose back pressure? Can any damage be done by using a 40 with a Hemi?

I wouldn't worry about losing backpressure with the 40s.

I just changed out my 40's last week and went with a 70 series. My truck sounds way quieter around the neighborhood but still is loud when you get on it. My guy at the muffler shop recommended the 70 series for my 4.7L. My 40 series was so loud I received a complaint from my condo association. Also, according to the flowmaster website...the 40 series, and I quote, "is designed to increase interior resonance." So if you want to hear it inside.....
